With new settlements, brain-damaged girl to receive $14.75 million

The family of an 8-year-old girl who suffered permanent brain damage at birth has agreed to two settlements in the past three weeks — which, coupled with a pair of earlier agreements, brings the total result of the family’s lawsuit to $14.75 million. Elexia Ingram was born in August 2006 during an emergency cesarian section at St. Bernard Hospital in Englewood.
