A man who spent 24 years in prison for murder and arson is entitled to tell the jurors in the trial of his civil rights suit that he was granted a certificate of innocence, a federal judge has held. In a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Joan H. Lefkow declined to block James Kluppelberg from referring to the certificate when pursuing his malicious prosecution and due process claims.
