No new trial for convicted city official

A federal judge on Tuesday denied acquitting or granting a new trial to a former Chicago official who was found guilty of accepting bribes in return for directing a contract for the city’s red-light cameras to Phoenix-based Redflex Traffic Systems Inc.John Bills, former managing deputy commissioner of the city’s Transportation Department, was convicted by a jury in January on 20 counts ranging from bribery to wire fraud.Bills could face up to 340 years in prison.
