Rauner asks high court to directly take on labor case

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration is asking the state Supreme Court to intervene in a labor dispute between his administration and the state’s largest union.The appeal to the state’s high court follows a ruling by the 4th District Appellate Court that prevented Rauner from imposing his contract terms on the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees — a union representing about 38,000 state employees.In an order issued March 1, the appeals panel granted the …
