Illinois AG joins 19 states in call for federal special counsel

The Illinois attorney general on Thursday joined 19 of her Democratic counterparts from other states in calling for an independent special counsel to investigate the Russian government’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election.The two-paragraph letter to Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein came two days after President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey, who was leading an investigation into Russian interference and whether the foreign government had colluded with Trump campaign officials.&ldquo …
