Gidwitz hit for $5.7M in unpaid fees

A Cook County judge on Wednesday ordered businessman and political fundraiser Ron Gidwitz and his family to pay $5.7 million in owed legal fees for work the former firm Ungaretti & Harris performed for them in litigation against the city of Joliet.The Gidwitz family owns the real estate management firm The Burnham Cos., which hired Ungaretti in 2005 to represent it and the family in a legal battle over a Section 8-subsidized housing project between the city and the family, which also had the federal government’s …
