A Cook County jury awarded more than $1 million to an elderly man who suffered injuries during a colonoscopy procedure for which he didn’t give informed consent.Plaintiff Ezequiel Flores sued Dr. Manuel Alva and his employer Medicor Partners S.C. in 2014 alleging Alva failed to inform him of the risks or alternatives associated with the procedure before performing it in January 2013.Flores, 89 at the time, was admitted to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn for treatment of swelling in his legs.
