Metra train strike lands $7.5M deal

A woman who suffered severe injuries after getting struck by a Metra train has settled her lawsuit for $7.5 million.Plaintiff Cherese Lynette sued Metra in 2012, alleging the commuter service’s failure to secure its loading platform and provide clear boarding instructions caused her 68-year-old mother Nola Ruffin to stand too close to the tracks and subsequently was struck in October 2011.Ruffin suffered several severe injuries in the impact, according to court records, including a traumatic brain injury that has …
