Breathing tube lawsuit ends in $3M settlement

The estate of a man who died after his breathing tube became disconnected at an Oak Park hospital has settled its lawsuit for $3 million.The agreement came Oct. 24 in plaintiff Krista L. Olson-Benisek’s lawsuit against Vanguard West Suburban Hospital, the nurse who primarily treated him and a product manufacturer that distributed tracheostomy tubes.Olson-Benisek filed the suit in July 2013 alleging the tracheostomy tube placed in Paul D. Benisek, 70, was done negligently, depriving him of oxygen and causing brain …
