A measure requiring police officers to submit to drug and alcohol tests if they’re involved in a shooting has been approved by the Senate. The legislation, Senate Bill 5, would require each law enforcement agency in the state to adopt a policy that says cops must submit to testing by the end of their shift if they are part of an officer-involved shooting. The measure is sponsored by Sen. Mattie Hunter, a Chicago Democrat.
