Defendant Jaime Hauad will have a chance to prove he was tortured by Chicago police officers at an evidentiary hearing after the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to refer his case to the chief judge of the Cook County Circuit Court.The commission found that, by a preponderance of the evidence, Hauad presented sufficient evidence of torture to merit a judicial review.
