Archdiocese hit with $700,000 jury verdict in retaliation case

The Archdiocese of Chicago has been ordered to pay $700,000 to a former employee who alleges she was fired for complaining that a technology-support worker was viewing pornography on a church computer.A jury in U.S. District Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer’s court awarded Lynn Sanchez $200,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages.Pallmeyer will hold a separate hearing to hear evidence on Sanchez’s motion to receive back pay.“We’re very pleased,” the lead attorney for Sanchez …
